Yes to opportunity

Yes to learning

Yes to hope

One size doesn’t fit all.

Every student deserves access to a high quality education that will set them up for success.

Putting school choice in our Colorado Constitution will help make that a reality.

What is
Amendment 80?

Amendment 80 is one of the clearest, simplest measures on the Colorado ballot this year. People across the political spectrum agree we should lock in the education options that we currently have for all families. Children are unique and have different needs. Since one size doesn’t fit all, parents should have the ability to choose a school that best fits their children so every child can reach their full potential.

Amendment 80 takes the popular and successful school choice rights Coloradans have enjoyed for decades and cements them in our state constitution. This will allow future generations of families to continue to choose the best school for their children and gives all students the right to access a good education that fits their needs – all without impacting student funding.

Amendment 80 will continue what we currently have in Colorado: the right to consider a wide range of traditional public, charter, and magnet schools, private schools, homeschool, or open enrollment options. Our current system, which Amendment 80 will allow us to keep, creates robust and positive competition within the education system without impacting public school funding.

Students deserve choices

Colorado charter schools serve a higher percentage of children from minority and economically disadvantaged families than local neighborhood public schools. National statistics are clear that underprivileged students do better when their families have more choices, not less.

Not a partisan issue

School Choice was originally sponsored by a Republican and a Democrat and signed into law by a Democrat Governor. Giving parents the choice of where to educate their child has the support of a majority of Republicans, Democrats, and Unaffiliated voters.

Nothing new to Coloradans

Amendment 80 simply establishes the right to school choice. It takes the popular and successful school choice rights Coloradans have enjoyed for decades and cements them in our state constitution.

Diversity is a good thing

Students thrive in all types of settings. That’s why Amendment 80 includes diverse learning situations such as charter, neighborhood, private, homeschooling, open enrollment, and even leaving the door open for future innovations.

Equal opportunity for success

Children are unique and have different needs, and every child deserves an opportunity to succeed. Parents should have the ability to choose a school that best fits their children so every child can reach their full potential.
